Look at our ‘Products’ page for more information.

You can look at eatwild.com or localharvest.org or polyfacefarms.com to see a list of other farms like ours and to find a farm near you.

Please look at our ‘About’ page to see specifics of each animal Afton Field Farm raises.

Besides the grasses, grubs, shrubs, and bugs that the animals eat every day, the chickens and pigs get a feed ration as well.  The cattle and sheep are fed a strict grass diet every day of their life up to the day of slaughter.

We are now using Haystack Farm & Feeds’ poultry and hog feed.  They are a local, all-natural feed company.  They cannot claim to be GMO-free because they cannot guarantee that the soy, beet pulp, and limited amount of corn they use are GMO-free.  An all-natural wheat is used that they grow on their farm.  Similar to Afton Field Farm, Haystack Farm & Feeds doesn’t want to use GMO’s in their feeds and are currently doing testing on using canola pellets (which is the bi-product after the oil is expressed) and brewers yeast as protein sources to replace the soy that is in their feed now.

At this point in our business we are not feeding organic feed.  It is too expensive for us to purchase and to then pass that cost on to our customers right now.  We are pleased with the all-natural and nearly fully local feed we are using from Haystack Farm & Feeds.   We are, however, still in the process of looking for local farmers to grow an organic feed ration without corn or soy.  We are hoping that the trials Haystack Farm & Feeds does with the canola pellets and brewers yeast will be a success.  This is an important issue to us.  Please know that we are doing all that we can to ensure our poultry and swine are ingesting the best feed we can provide them; ultimately giving you the healthiest and most nutritious meats possible.   For more details on how we raise our animals please look at our ‘About’ page.
